1.Warm up

What is ‘Hats and Bats’? Explain the topic (sport, winners, types of sports)

The teacher asks questions to the learners .about different sports and asks them to classify them according to the season, place, teams, degree of danger.

this task can be done both orally or in a written form. The aim of this activity is to prepare students for the following work and revise sport vocabulary.

2.Presentation

Learners look at the slide and talk about different sports which are played by famous politicians including N.A.Nazarbaev, V.V. Putin, Elizabeth2, Donald Trump.

the teacher asks some questions to the students to check the comprehension.

What sport does V.Putin go in for?

Who likes riding a horse?

What does the American President Donald Trump like?

What sport is popular in America?

4. Reading and writing a poem.

  • Pupils read the poem first and try to guess the missing words.
  • They write the picture words in their notebooks and then check it with their teacher or peers. This could be done as one of the formative tasks.
  • After they have written the words they see the original of this poem and assess their work. They may change their works with each other and check them.

New vocabulary

  • Learners are introduced with the new vocabulary first and then they practice pronouncing them in chorus or alone.

Vocabulary practice

  • Learners are provided with the worksheets where they match the words of sport equipment with the sports. Finally they elicit the full sentences. They may write the sentences after they complete the task or it may be given as a homework. Tell them that there is an example which is done to make it easier.
