Pre-learning/Warm-up /Revision of the words.

  • Students walk around the class and choose one picture of their favorite food. (Pictures are on the wall - Bread, cheese, pizza, milk, egg, cake, fish, steak, chicken, salad).
  • Students having their pictures in their hands watch a video and sing a song “Make a circle”. While doing the movements and singing students stand in a big circle and face each other their pictures of different food.
  • Standing in a big circle learners practice structure “I like…

Teacher gives an example: I like pizza.

In turns learners practice: I like

Differentiation by support: Less able learners work with teachers` assistance.

Listening:

  • Learners are given listening worksheet. Listen and circle the correct word.

  • Check as a whole class

Differentiation: Less able learners get cards with few food items.

  • Learners watch a video practicing the structure.
  • Teacher gives speaking cards. Set time to prepare.
  • In pairs, learners ask each other questions and give short answers.

Closing Reflection

Have learners stand in a circle and name different names of food. Once they hear the food name learners clap their hands, when they hear other items’ names they don’t.

Ex: cake, tea, book, apple, desk, etc.
