Play vocab flashcard treasure hunt Once students are familiar with the vocabulary, play a game. For example, stick the flashcards on the board. Put your class into two teams and call out sentences about the food you like, e.g. ‘I like eggs and cheese.’ One child from each team runs out to the board to touch the correct items. Vocabulary practice Freer practice ‘Overwriting’ Students work individually and do the overwriting task. They are asked to overwrite 6 new words. Differentiation by support: Less able learners work with teachers` assistance. Controlled practice "Vocabulary matching" Give each student a piece of paper with different pictures of food. They cut out the pictures and glue them next to the appropriate word in the writing worksheet. Differentiation by support: Less able learners work with teachers` assistance.
