First of all some words about my parents. My mother is a teacher of biology. She works in a school. She likes her profession. She is a good-looking woman with brown hair. She is 44 but she looks much younger.
My father is programmer. He is forty-six. My father often sings and when we are at home and have some free time I play guitar and we sing together. He is also handy with many things. When he was small he liked to take everything to pieces. My grandmother told me a story that once my father tried to repair their kitchen clock but without success. They had to give it to a repairman. But it happened a long time ago. Now he can fix almost everything.
My parents have been married for 18 years. They have much in common, but they have different views on music, books, and films. For example my father likes horror films and my mother likes soap operas. My father is fond of tennis. My mother doesn’t go in for sports.
My parents are hard working people. My mother keeps house and takes care of my father and me. She is very good at cooking. My grandmother is a pensioner. She lives with us and helps to run the house. She is fond of knitting.
I want to become a student. I’d like to learn foreign languages. I always try to be in a good mood.
We have got a lot of relatives.
Before I start talking about my family let me introduce myself, I am Lena Kuznetsova. I am 17. I have finished school this year. I have lived all my life in the small town of Novogrudok.
And now I am going to tell you a few words about my family. There are five of us in the family. It may sound a bit strange but we think we are a large family. We are happy to be living together. We are getting on all right and we are a united family.
Certainly I am going to talk first of my dad. His name is Ivan Petrovich. He works at the local dairy factory as a mechanic. He is not a young man, but he is not old. He is 44. He is a good-looking man, tall, handsome, rather thin with dark brown hair just beginning to go grey. He is a quiet person though not very sociable. What I dont like about my dad is that he is always busy. Very often he works overtime. On weekends he always goes to the country. He enjoys working in the garden.
My mother's name is Anna Nickolayevna. She is five years younger than my father. She is a teacher at a nursery school. My mum is pretty and looks young for her age. She is always smart and elegant. She always has a lot of work to do both at school and about the house. You can imagine it, she is fond of her work and speak a lot of time there and of course she has to cook the food for all of us at home. Shopping and cooking is nearly half a day's work for her. And she has the habit of cooking more food than we really need. And it's useless to talk her out of it.
Victor is my younger brother. He is a twelve-year old boy and naturally he goes to school. He likes school but he is very fond of sports. He wanted to be a professional footballer. He plays football always and everywhere. But he is so messy at home. He never keeps things in their right places.
And finally my granny. My grandmother Vera Fyodordvna is a real darling. She is my best friend, must tell you. She is always ready to listen to my endless stories about school and about my friends. She is a very understanding person. She is 69. She worked - hard on the farm in her youth and in her older age. I am so sorry her health is in a bad state.
That is my story about my family. If you have any questions to me you are most welcome.
About My Family
My family is not very big, just a typical family: Dad, Mom, me, my brother and sister and our cat. My Mummy is forty-one, she is a teacher of Spanish at the University. She is a born teacher. She has teaching abilities. My Dad is forty-two, he is a professional painter, he works for a design company. My parents both like their work very much.
My elder sister Natasha is nineteen, she goes to the University, she wants to be a teacher of history. She is fond of reading books on history and fiction.
My younger brother Igor is only six years old, he goes to the kindergarten. He is very funny, I like to spend my free time teaching him something. Igor likes to play with our cat.
My grandparents are retired. They like gardening. They spend a lot of their time in the garden. They grow vegetables and fruits. We enjoy having fresh vegetables and green on our dinner table.
I love my family very much. We always help each other. Everyone in my family is my best friend.
I have a very good friend. His (her) name is ... Friends are very important in our life. I think one cannot live without friends. The most important thing for being good friends, to my mind, is to be ready to help one another in any situation, nevertheless how difficult it is, to support one another and to solve all the problems together. And never mind, that the friends may have different interests and hobbies, different likes and dislikes. They say that the friend in need is a friend indeed. I think it is really so.
My friend and I always do our best to help one another. We discuss all our troubles and try to find the best decision in any situation. My friend is a very good, kind and clever boy (girl). We often spend our free time together. It is not very easy now, because both of us are very busy — we are going to enter institutes and have a lot of work to do.
My friend is going to become a doctor (a teacher, an engineer, a lawyer). Our future professions are different (the same) and the subjects we have to study are different (the same) too, but (and) we like to work together and to help one another in our study.
When we have some free time, we go for walks, read and discuss books, watch films, go to discos or play computer games. Playing computer games is our hobby. Both of us are fond of sport. We go in for swimming (tennis) and often go to the swimming pool (tennis court) together. We are football fans and we like to watch and discuss football matches on TV or to go to the stadium. I love my friend very much. I think he (she) is a true friend. Our friendship is very dear to me and I try to do my best to be a good friend too.
My Friend Marina
I would like to tell you about my friends. I have a lot of them, but my close friend is Marina. She is my school-mate. We have been studying together in one form all the eleven years of our school-life.
She is 17. We have nothing in common in appearance. Marina is pretty in her own way. She is thin and slender, not very tall. Her hair is red and straight, her face is oval and her forehead is high. She has a turn-up nose and beautiful green eyes with bushy eyelashes.
Marina is as good as gold. Warm-hearted and gentle, quiet and well-bred. Everyone loves her. She is always well dressed and neat. She is always ready to help people, when they are in need.
Marina is the only daughter of her parents and they adore her. Nevertheless she is not selfish. I like to be around her, because she knows a lot of interesting stories, funny jokes.
Friendship is one of the greatest things in
